The Education and Training Ministry of Ikoyi Baptist Church is an arm of the Discipleship PDV that provides basic platform for educating the church through the church structured system and facilitate the training programs of Church Officers and Workers. The ministry seeks openings to bring the church in touch with the challenges of our contemporary times with a view to provide educative awareness to address such emerging issues.
The Ministry basically organises the church’s Workers’ Retreats in January and July. It is at these retreats that goals and visions are shared by the Church Pastor and broken down into specific ministerial services within our PDV Ministries by the Ministers and Diaconate Chairman. Then, these goals are further cascaded to various ministries in church so that the church will run with a singular vision as given by the Lord of the church, through the Church Pastor.
The Church Workers’ Retreat provides platform to:
Set the tune for our work with the Master early in the year
Re-ignite our passion towards our collective agreement to advance the work of missions and evangelism
Open us up to various ways we can do the work of ministry in contextual ways that are inviting and engaging
Check the performance level of the various ministries of the church
Understand the challenges we have faced in actualizing our goals for the past year (or the current year, if it is mid-year retreat)
Close the gap of Luke warmness and burn outs often experienced as the year rolls on
Create a forum to hear the pastor cast the vision for the year
Create an opportunity to have the ministers explain how the vision can be translated into goals achievable within ministries
Create opportunity for the diaconate chairman to explain how the vision and goals can be translated in our various fellowship avenues
Create a ground for workers to ask questions and receive answers
Create platform for church leadership to receive feedbacks that can further help to advance the work of ministry
Create windows of opportunity to do an involving ministry where members are empowered and equipped for the work of ministry.
