The drama ministry of IBC (Word on Stage) is the “theatre” arm of the Church where we demonstrate several revelations in God’s Word through stage acting, visual aided presentations, thereby making the Word come alive, real and true to believers as they relate with such episodes in their everyday life.
The ministry had always been a part of the worship life of the church but only recognized occasionally as an acting group (mostly end of year); but in 2008, it became a full-fledged drama group and later developed to fully recognized part of the church teaching and pulpit ministry. The name “Word on Stage (WOS)” was adopted also in 2008 and the ministry has grown in leaps and bounds.
The numerical strength is put at about 35 active IBC members, comprising of children, teenagers, young adults and even the elderly also. There are also a few “guest appearances”, sometimes drawn from any age group in the church, based on their maturity in faith and the relevant role they are meant to play to deliver God’s message to His people.
The focus of the drama ministry is primarily concerned with sharing the Word of God as vivid, practicable, real and accurate as it affects the everyday Christian, giving “mental and physical demonstration” to the Word through acting on stage and also turning others to God. Recently, God has also expanded our vision for outreach both in collaboration with the mission and evangelism ministry of the church, as well as periodic ministration in sister churches (usually upon invitation).
Activities in 2017:
The ministry staged two major stage productions in 2017: “Drama Night” in April and “Drama Festival” in October, and we give God the glory for revealing Himself to His church. Testimonies abound for God’s blessings through these ministrations.
We also had a drama outreach at Bethel Baptist Church, Ekpoma, Edo State; RCCG, Goshen Parish, Lekki Phase I; Lekki Baptist Church, to name just a few. In all these, God backed us up strongly with His presence and showed forth His mercy during the outreach. A lot of souls were won to the kingdom.
The ministry has had other ministrations in the church during the monthly second Sunday ministrations and also during the church’s monthly vigils, Mother’s Day celebration, Joint MMU &WMU fellowships, etc.
