REV’D. GERSHOM OGHENEJATOR. DAVID OYOVWIKIGHO
Born on September 24, 1978, Rev. Gershom Oyovwikigho is the first of eight children of Rev. Evang, Benson Oyovwikigho and Mrs Lucy Otadafe Aphiphen of Ogbe-Udu in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State. He attended Baptist Nursery School and Air Force Primary School both in Port Harcourt. When his dad was transferred, the family then proceeded to Ughelli in Delta State where he finished his primary school education at Oharisi Model Primary School in 1990 and attended Government College Ughelli for secondary school education from 1991 to 1997. He attended the College of Education, Agbor where he obtained his Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE in Economics and Geography) in 2004, and got his Bachelor of Science Education (Geography) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
As a boy in 1984, at the age of six, he became a Christian during a revival service held in the then Second Baptist Church, Diobu now Central Baptist Church, Port Harcourt. He was led to confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour by the revivalist who was a missionary with the Southern Baptist Mission.
He enjoyed ‘playing Church’ right from when he was in Primary one, he would be the preacher and would recite the Sunbeam band watchword as his sermon. Little wonder his call experience was not as dramatic as that of many others. As he grew in Churchmanship the Lord began to impress it upon his heart the call to full-time ministry. During his second year in the College of Education he agreed to answer the call but pleaded with the Lord to allow him to go to the university first after his university days he told the Lord that if he was actually being called into the Christian ministry, his NYSC posting should be to a place where there is a need . His service year experience was proof enough of God’s call upon his life. Again Rev. Gershom pleaded with the Lord to allow him to get married first before going for training at the seminary. He got married in 2010 and he finally yielded in 2012 enrolling for the Master of Divinity degree in Theology at the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso. He graduated in June 2015. Rev. Oyovwikigho has also completed his programme for a Master of Arts in Youth Ministry (M.A.Y.M) degree from the same institution. He was ordained into the full gospel ministry in October 11, 2020.
